Ruan Carlo

Violin

Ruan was born in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba. After graduating, Ruan continued his violin studies with Charles Stegeman, and is currently enrolled at the Master's degree program in Violin Performance at Duquesne University under his tutelage. 

Ruan has performed with several orchestras in Brazil and has extensive teaching experience from his time at SCAR Theater Music School, where he taught private violin lessons and group lessons at social projects, as well as served as a sectional coach for the SCAR Youth Orchestra. Certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas from Violin Units 1-8, Ruan has expertise in teaching violin to students of all ages and is fluent in English and Portuguese, while also having advanced Spanish and intermediate German. Most recently in 2024, Ruan was present at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, where he received extensive coachings and lessons from world-renowned professors like Kurt Sassmanshaus and David Ying.

Ruan loves to work with new students of any age, goals and backgrounds, and cares deeply for each of his students to nurture their love for music making and their instrument.
